Navy Individual Ribbon Awards
ESTABLISHING AUTHORITY
The Reserve Special Commendation Ribbon was established on April 16, 1946, by Secretary of the Navy James V. Forrestal.
EFFECTIVE DATES
The Reserve Special Commendation Ribbon was in effect from January 1, 1930 to December 7, 1941.
CRITERIA
This ribbon was awarded to officers of the Navy or Marine Corps Organized Reserve who commanded a battalion (or separate division of the Naval or Marine Corps Reserve) for a period of four years between January 1, 1930 and December 7, 1941. To qualify, the officer must also have had a total of not less than ten years service in the Reserves.
ORDER OF PRECEDENCE
The Reserve Special Commendation Ribbon is worn after the Good Conduct Medal and before the Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal.
DEVICES
No devices were authorized for the Reserve Special Commendation Ribbon.
